OZRKEmergencies
OZRK is not an emergency service and cannot summon help. In an emergency call 911 (or your local number). If you have no signal, a text to 911 may work where voice does not, and satellite messengers or personal locator beacons work beyond coverage.
Offline and no signal
The OZRK website needs a connection to load map tiles, weather and data. Downloadable offline maps are not available in the web app today. Before you go, save or print maps, carry a compass and a paper map, charge your phone and bring a battery pack.
Weather and severe weather
Check the forecast and National Weather Service alerts for your exact area and time, and again before leaving. Thunderstorms, flash floods, heat, cold and wind can change fast. Low-water crossings and creeks can flood from rain miles away. Leave early; turn back when conditions change.
Cell coverage
Where OZRK shows carrier coverage it is provider-reported 2021 LTE data, not a promise of signal today. Hills, valleys and weather block signal. Missing coverage on the map is not proof that you have none, and shown coverage is not proof that you have it.
Access and property
Confirm that you may be where you plan to be. Public land may have closures; private land needs the owner’s permission. Hunters should confirm boundaries, seasons and rules with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission or the managing agency.
Water and wildlife
Wear a life jacket. Stream gauge values are provisional. Keep your distance from wildlife; snakes, ticks and aggressive animals are real hazards.
Tell someone
Share your route, start time and expected return with a person who will raise the alarm. Carry water, food, layers, light and a first-aid kit suited to the trip.
